Soundtrackcity invites you to stroll and rediscover the city with soundwalks made by artists. The walks follow routes through different neighborhoods. Each walk tells a another story about past, present and future of the area, based on stories and experiences of residents. Immerse yourself in a unique audio mix of voices, sounds and music.
How does it work?
With an MP3 player and headphones you make a round trip of about 60 minutes. Along the way you listen to a mix of urban stories, ambient sound, music, the voice of a guide, archive footage and a specially composed soundscape.
You can walk whenever you want. Along the way you decide when to pause or resume your walk.
How do I get it?
You have three options:
1. Download the walks on this website.
2. Buy the book Soundtrackcity. For 17.50 you have the DVD with the soundtracks of all walks (approimately 8 hours sound), and a full-color edition with extensive background information. A bargain.
3. Go to the starting point of a walk and borrow a preloaded audio player.
Check the opening hours and take a 50 euro deposit or identification with you.
Can I come with a group?
Ask about our group offer.
So when is it?
At the starting points the walks are offered for individual use until the end of November 2011 for free. On this website you can download the walks after that time. There are regularly new walks available, subscribe to the newsletter if you want to be informed.

Première Ticket to Istanbul
Sunday, February 26 at 14.00 is the long awaited premiere of
Ticket to Istanbul, the new soundwalk by Renate Zentschnig and
Justin Bennett in Amsterdam.
The soundwalk will be available in English and in Dutch.

In week 4 our English soundwalk The Zone was temporarily free to download. Missed that one? Do not worry. In the spring you can do this soundwalk with us. On Saturday, April 14 at 14:00 Soundtrackcity organizes a program around The Zone in cooperation with Public Library Staatsliedenbuurt.

With Soundtrackcity Rotterdam you hit the street, instead of sitting in the cinema, to become both operator and spectator of your own film. A film that doesn’t consist of celluloid images or bits and bytes, but of real-time images of reality that are transformed profoundly by the special soundtrack you listen to while walking. The soundwalks of Soundtrackcity Rotterdam will change your perception of reality in four different cinematic experiences.
