A soundwalk with architecture as a score

Theater maker Anne Rooschüz and sound artist
Robert van Heumen take you on a journey along buildings of the Amsterdam School. Children’s voices in your headphones playfully make you aware of all kinds of special aspects in the architecture: weird protuberances, useless curves, blind walls, secret vistas.

Steenklank is a musical interpretation of the architecture, coupled to a game of voices and street sounds.

Startingpoint:
P. L. Takstraat 2, 1073 KK Amsterdam
Length: 53 minutes

Steenklank was developed using a score-process: Anne Rooschüz took photographs of architectural details and converted them into abstract drawings. Robert van Heumen took those drawings and put them to music as if they were notes in a traditional score. Felix Weigand designed a booklet containing these scores. You can download a printable version here.
